Gakuchoukan Kendo Dojo in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark, is practicing Kendo based on ko-budo.
Kendo (剣道) is Japanese fencing, which roots can be traced back to the samurai.
In addition to the fencing we are interested in the old Japanese culture, why we teach reigi (discipline and respect), Japanese history, mythology and ceremonies, etc.
Children aged 6 to 15 years are able to practice in the children Kendo group.
The parents have the opportunity to practice together with other adults while their children are practicing in the children group. As an alternative the parents/guardians can spend time enjoying the Jægersborg Deer Park or the Eremitage Hunting Lodge which our Dôjô is near located to.

We do not take part in Kendo as competitive sport because this phenomenon is
lacking historical relevance in relation to the old Japanese samurai traditions. |
Our values are based on a jointly community within the group where it is in everyone's interest that everyone evolves. How each student is felling is connected to how the group is functioning and vice versa.
All our instructors have no criminal record. Furthermore are our child-family Kendo group instructors educated school teachers.
Our history is briefly described on Lyngby Kendo. (In English)
To read more about Kendo we refer to our website for adults on the main site of Gakuchoukan Kendo Dojo (In English).

We are organized in: Danish Traditional Kendo Federation デンマーク伝統剣道連盟. |
We have international contacts to England and Japan. In context of travelling to these countries members are offered educational and cultural experiences, all based on the Japanese samurai traditions within traditional Kendo.
Look up for other Kendo groups outside Japan which organized old Kendo: Directory of Traditional Kendo / Classical Kendo.
Of course we have this website in Danish too: Children and young in Kendo Lyngby.
